Welcome to the Maple Grove Foundation!
Who we are
We support the school, but we are not the school
Maple Grove Foundation is an independent organization dedicated to ensuring the success of Maple Grove Charter School, but we are distinct from the school itself. While the school focuses on providing education, it is the Foundation’s mission to secure the resources needed to maintain the facilities, fund special programs, and preserve the school’s legacy. Our role is to enhance the learning environment and support its sustainability through community fundraising, volunteer efforts, and advocacy. Together with the school, we work to provide students with the best possible education, but our focus here at the foundation is on the long-term viability of the institution.
Our Mission
At Maple Grove Foundation, our mission is to preserve and strengthen the legacy of rural education by ensuring the continued success of Maple Grove Charter School. We are committed to providing the financial and community support necessary to sustain hands-on, exploratory learning experiences that prepare students for the future. By fostering a unique educational environment that blends tradition, environmental stewardship, and innovation, we aim to nurture the whole child—equipping them with the skills, values, and knowledge to thrive in school and in life. Together with our community, we advocate for accessible, high-quality education that benefits students, families and future generations who call our rural town home.

Students and teachers love Maple Grove Charter School
About: Legal fees for the fight against Merril Area Public Schools to prove Maple Grove Charter School did in fact follow all the contract rules
“Previously, there was a revolving-door of Maple Grove Charter School staff members because of the constant fear of Merrill shutting our school down. After the Maple Grove Foundation fought to join the Athens School District, our staff finally has seasoned veterans that choose to stay year after year.”
About: Financed 75% of the new heating boilers
“Previously, the climate within my classroom was so unregulated to the point that we had 45 degree Fahrenheit temperatures inside during the winter months. We actually had to relocate our learning into the library which was somewhat warmer with the use of an Amish space heater. There were also times when the classroom would reach 83 degrees fahrenheit in the Winter which would result in all of the windows being opened. We now have consistent temperatures and a comfortable learning environment.”
About: Monthly “Popcorn Fridays” where each student & staff member receives a free bag of popcorn
“My old school used to have popcorn days where each student and staff member would purchase bags for 25 cents each. With the help from the Maple Grove Foundation, no child or staff member is excluded from this wonderful opportunity. We all look forward to the salty goodness and the added bonus treat hidden in the bottom of the bags.”
About: Curriculum supplies including 3rd grade Fromm HIstory unit-purchased 30 copies of the Fromm Brothers biography “Bright With Silver”
“Previously the third graders were learning thematic units instead of outdoor lab lessons. Once EL Curriculum lessons and Agri-Science lessons were incorporated instead, the history and education of the Fromm Family disappeared. With the support of the Maple Grove Foundation and staff members, module lessons about the literary classic Peter Pan were revised and changed to study the classic biography of Bright with Silver instead.”
